This is a portable application, which means that it’s not wrapped in a setup pack. Instead, you can drop its executable file anywhere on the computer or on a portable devices, in order to directly launch the app without worrying about any installers. Icon Explorer is capable of clearing the previous selection. It’s also possible to display only 32-bit icons while hiding the rest, customize the icon background color, as well as to conduct a search operation on any drive for executables, include subfolders, ignore duplicates, and automatically add all identified icons to the view.

Evaluation and conclusion
The tool didn’t put a strain on the computer’s performance throughout our tests, thanks to the fact that it required low CPU and memory to work properly. Scan jobs were carried out in reasonable time. We haven’t come across any unpleasant surprises, as it didn’t freeze, crash or prompt errors.
Although it hasn’t been updated for a while, Icon Explorer offers a simple solution to viewing and extracting icons from executables, and it can be seamlessly handled by anyone.
